First Ember Citadel Run
Prepare the safest route, equipment, recovery, and checkpoints for your first Ember Citadel run in Aetherfall.
Quick facts
- Recommended level
- 12–14
- Primary hazard
- Scorch
- Best damage type
- Frost
- Safe checkpoint
- Western lift
Prepare before entering
Equip a frost weapon even if its displayed power is slightly lower than your fire weapon. Most Citadel sentries resist fire, while frost interrupts their charged attacks and creates safer healing windows.
Carry two cleansing draughts for Scorch and reserve at least one full recovery item for the Warden. Empty two inventory slots before entering so the seal key and boss reward never force you to discard supplies.
Follow the safest route
Take the lower aqueduct at the first fork, disable the steam valve, and climb the western stairs. The upper forge is shorter but adds two fire turrets and is a poor trade on a first attempt.
At the lift hall, activate the brass switch before opening the sealed chest. The switch remains active after defeat; the chest reward does not improve your route.
Approach the Warden of Ash
Keep medium distance during the opening phase and punish the Warden after the third hammer strike. In the second phase, break the two ember pylons before attacking the boss. Save your strongest frost skill for the final phase, when the arena edge begins to burn.
Show the post-fight reward
The first victory awards the Frostburst Sigil, which strengthens stagger damage against burning enemies.
